What is Community Events Australia?

Community Events Australia helps you discover, share and manage local community events — Majlis, Milad, lectures, Quran classes, programs and more — with full Hijri calendar support, private event sharing, and live streaming straight to YouTube.

🏠 Home Screen

Home screen showing upcoming events list

Browsing events

The Home screen shows all upcoming community events in order, with the current Hijri date shown at the top based on community moon-sighting decisions.

Search & filter

Use the search bar to find events by keyword, suburb or organiser. Tap the filter icon to narrow results by audience type — Gents, Ladies, Family, Kids.

Notifications

Tap the bell icon to see a quick preview of tomorrow's events.

Navigation

The bottom bar gives you: Home, My Events, the green button to add a new event, Favourites, and your Profile.

🗂 Event Cards

Collapsed view

Each card shows a date chip (day, month, weekday), a thumbnail (the event's poster if uploaded, otherwise the organiser's logo), an audience badge, and an organiser badge — Centre or Private.

Expanded view

Tap any card to expand it and see the Hijri date, full address, speaker/reciter names, and organiser details.

From the expanded card you can: Share the event (with poster image) via WhatsApp, SMS or any app; get Directions via Google Maps; or tap the heart icon to Save it to Favourites.

Poster zoom

If a poster image was uploaded, tap the thumbnail to view it full screen.

➕ Adding an Event

Step 1 — Open the form

Tap the green button in the bottom navigation.

Step 2 — Basic details

Choose an event type (Majlis, Milad, Lecture, Quran Class, Program, etc.), enter the title/subject, host name, and organiser. The organiser determines which logo appears on the card if no poster is uploaded — choose your centre, or mark the event as Private.

Step 3 — Date

Enter the date as a regular calendar date, or toggle to Hijri date entry and pick the Islamic date directly — the app calculates the matching Gregorian date based on the community's moon-sighting overrides.

Step 4 — Audience, address & poster

Select the audience type — Gents, Ladies, Kids, or Family Event. Use the address field's Google Maps autocomplete to set the venue. Optionally upload a poster image — it will be used as the card thumbnail.

Step 5 — On behalf of someone else

Tick "Adding on behalf of someone else" if you're submitting for another host — you'll still own and manage the event.

Step 6 — Submit

For Majlis events, you can also add a Speaker and multiple Reciters (e.g. Soz, Salam, Noha, Manqebat). Tap Submit and the event is immediately visible to the whole community on the home screen.

📆 Series Events

Add Series Events form with start and end date pickers

For multi-day programs

Series Events extends the Add Event form for programs running on consecutive days — like a Muharram lecture series or a Ramadan program. Fill in the event details once, then set a start date and end date. A preview shows every date that will be created (Gregorian or Hijri).

Submitting creates one individual event for every date in the range — for example, a ten-night program becomes ten separate events, each on its correct date, in a single action.

✏️ My Events & Hidden Events

Managing your events

Go to My Events to see everything you've created. From here you can edit, copy, share or delete any of your own events.

Hiding an event

Tap the eye icon to mark an event as hidden. Hidden events:

  • Disappear from the home screen and search — nobody browsing the app can find them
  • Are excluded from all reminder emails and notifications
  • Remain visible to you in My Events

Sharing a hidden event privately

From My Events, tap Share on a hidden event to send its details directly to specific people via WhatsApp, SMS, or any message. The recipient can view full event details — but anyone else using the app will never see this event unless you specifically share it with them. This is ideal for ladies' programs, private gatherings, or anything where you need to control who knows about it.

🔴 Live Streaming

Going live

Open one of your events and tap Go Live. A camera preview opens immediately — check your camera and microphone, and use Flip Camera to switch between front and back cameras. Nothing is broadcast yet at this stage.

While you're live

When you're ready, tap Start Streaming. The app creates a YouTube broadcast and starts streaming your camera directly to the Community Events YouTube channel — usually live within 15-20 seconds.

The streaming screen shows "YOU ARE LIVE" with your live duration and bitrate. A red LIVE NOW badge and a Watch on YouTube button appear on the event card for everyone in the community.

Your screen will stay awake automatically while streaming. Switching to another app or manually locking your phone will still pause the broadcast — keep the streaming screen open until you end the stream. If you switch apps, a Return to Stream button stays visible so you can jump straight back.

Ending the stream

Tap End Stream and confirm. The broadcast stops immediately, and the LIVE badge and Watch on YouTube button disappear from the event card for everyone within a few seconds.

📤 Bulk Share

Sharing multiple events at once

Bulk Share lets organisers select several upcoming events and generate one neatly formatted message — with dates, times, locations and Hijri dates — ready to paste into a WhatsApp group. Great for sharing a full week's program in one go instead of sharing each event individually.

📅 Calendar Sync & Reminders

Sync Calendar screen with Apple Calendar and Google Calendar quick sync buttons

Calendar Sync

Go to the Calendar view, select a date range, then download the calendar file. Open the .ics file to import events into iPhone Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook. Calendar entries include host name, event type, date & time, address and audience type — speaker and reciter details are not included.

Email reminders

A daily email is sent for events happening today. Toggle reminders on or off anytime in Profile. Hidden events are never included in reminders or calendar sync.
